You must be in your home country now? They really only want us here to teach conversation and pronunciation. The only way you're liable to get advance lit. classes here is if you have a Ph.d. |

Actually, I tried to verify these 'lit' jobs via that thread and PM, but didn't hear anything specific back. The fact that you have to form another thread seems to verify that if these jobs are out there, they are few and far inbetween, and definitely not at the bigger, more reputable schools.
As before, I wish you good luck on your quest to get a job for which you don't have sufficient credentials. |

Edit.
You are incorrect about them not being at bigger more reputable schools, though.
Thanks for the interest you have taken in my threads, Pragic. I appreciate your support and I am sorry you have not had the same success I have had.

No worries. Maybe I'm just trying to save you some money. The first lesson I ever learned about getting employed was that you NEVER pay someone for a job or for the opportunity to interview for one.
In the end, experience and qualifications get university jobs. Not trying to be a 'wet blanket', just telling it like it is.
Korean universities have to improve by attracting qualified foreign professors. They need to do this by offering competitive salaries, by providing opportunities for advancement, and by allowing sufficient academic freedom to promote creativity. At the university level, another important attraction is the potential to work with other faculty in research and related exchanges of ideas. The long and short of it is that published, qualified professors are going to shy away from programs that have MAs teaching core courses in an non-ESL related curriculum.
As Korea's university system begins to concentrate more and more on international competitiveness, they'll hire more and more foreign profs, much like Japanese universities began to do a few years back. Even if you were to pay for a job now, it wouldn't be secure over the long run. Most of the top-tier schools are already recruiting hard. Like everywhere else in the world, the ticket for admission to the game at better universities is the magic piece of paper, demonstrated teaching experience at the undergrad and grad levels, publications, and the potential to keep cranking papers out. |

I find it unlikely that you're going to jump into the position you're looking for. You're going to have to put in your time and work your way up the ladder.
But if you don't like my answer, feel free to start a new thread. |

Pragic, once again you're so full of yourself (and full of shhit) it's a wonder you manage to live with yourself on a daily basis. If you don't have what the OP asks for, then please do everyone (and yourself) a favor and refrain from posting garbage that stems from you arrogant / insecure (=pathetic) personality. |

Chill, Chris.
The information he's giving is relevant to the thread. If you don't like his posts, don't read them. You don't have to name-call and insult him. |

Ya I guess a PhD holder who works at a university in Korea would of course have no idea wtf he is talking about...oh wait, perhaps that is you. PR didn't come off as arrogant or insecure, I think you are the one who is insecure, or perhaps jealous that someone with a doctorate comes on her to give advice. |

from what i've seen, there are few of those lit type positions. the ones i've seen seem to be exclusively tenure track positions, and those almost always require a PhD. That's just the way the world works.
I did see a position at Sungkonghoe University in Seoul that was not tenure track, and did emphasize literature over conversation. (FYI, I applied for that job, but did not get an interview.) |

Wait, you guys are still in touch with Bugmenot? Where is she these days? I haven't heard from her in months, and I'm getting really concerned. Can someone please drop me a PM if they have any information? Thanks. |

I'd just like to know if Bugmenot is OK, why she hasn't posted in a while, and if she posts under a different name now. I got similar PM's from her a while back and she did seem really upset at some of the goings-on. |

I know of a second-tier international school that'll be hiring a new high school English teacher in a bit. Would that apply? |
