Our new electrolux coffee maker was unveiled at school this morning. I say unveiled, and not taken out of the box and unwrapped because the anticipation was more........unveiling like.

Only the men were involved, because it's a man thing too. The women were cautioned to stand aside and just watch from a safe distance....I guess in case it exploded or on the off chance someone was menstruating and the evil spirits would ruin it before it ever had a chance to be all it could be.

The ground coffee selected also looks quite expensive.....well, at least the packaging does.

So with much discussion, (someone actually got a graduated cylinder from the science lab <yeah, that's scary>), bottled water was measured out and exactly 1 liter was poured into the machine.

Then...just when I was also getting into the anticipation of a kick-ass fresh brewed cup of coffee I watched with horror as precisely 2 scoops, or perhaps 2 tablespoons of coffee were measured and dumped in the receptacle.

We now have exactly 1 liter of....I don't know, but at least it's hot.

Koreans aren't allowed to make the coffee in our staffroom. They do it just as you describe. Useless. Brown water.
