I just wanted to let everyone know what an incredible job the Korean Consulate in L.A. did on my E2 visa:

- passport/application arrived at 9:30 am
- I checked the Fedex tracking at 3pm to see if the package had arrived.
- I called the consulate at 3:05pm to confirm that they would call me for an interview, a lady there said that they had already called me but I didn't answer my phone (not likely), she gave me a different extension to call after 25 minutes
- I hang up and a guy from the consulate calls me at 3:33pm for the phone "interview" (he asked me the same questions that were on the application form)
- Fedex picks up my return package (passport) at 3:55pm

This is without a doubt the most efficient service by a government agency I have ever witnessed. It is just mind blowing.... Everyone talks shite about Korea on this forum but.....

reminds me of a story - I was in La Paz, Bolivia to get a visa extension. The lonely planet said it would be difficult and time consuming. My friend and I showed up at the visa office and there were a good 100 people in what appeared to be a very slow moving line. We asked a guard at the door if we were in the right line for the visa extension. He said yes and then, I think because we spoke good Spanish, said "I can do it for you, just give me your passports and the money". We were a bit hesitant since he was an armed guard standing at the door but after considering the line we handed over the passports and the normal fee. He said "come back in 4 hours". We went off to play and when we returned the same people were still in line - the line clearly had moved only a little. The guard gave us our passports with their new visa stamps and we giggled off.
