Does anyone own some noise reduction/cancelling headphones, and if so would you recommend them? If you've tried several brands which would you recommend? I'd be using them on the subway, bus and occasionaly airplane.

And.. how much do they cost? I'd prefer to buy them at Technomart by E. Seoul bus terminal, but I guess I could go to Yongsan..

cheers.

Cheap ones are cheap but work like crap. Bose ones work well but are really expensive. There are a few midrange ones now I guess, but I haven't tried em.

Wow, those Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 look great.
What a shame they are $120 on Amazon but $180 on the Korea website.

I just bought some Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones as a present ($300 in America), and tried them out on the plane back here. Really nice, but most reviews give the edge to those Audio Technica ATH-ANC7.

I ended up getting some in-ear monitor noise reducing headphones instead. There's no active noise cancellation, but they reduce background noise more than the Bose (etc) over ear phones which have active noise cancellation because they work the same as earplugs.

I'm very impressed with the sound quality.. I've never owned decent speakers or headphones before.. it's like rediscovering music.

The ones I bought cost me $145 at Technomart, which is approx $60 more than they'd cost in the USA.. ah well. The price was about the same as the UK price so i didn't feel too ripped off.

I'll give them a go on the subway and bus this week and see if they're as great as i think they're gonna be..

Ultimate Ears have a lot of fans. Hope you like them. I tried some of their other models, but couldn't get them to fit properly. The 4s look like they've been designed slightly different.

I've used Etymotic ER4s for a while now, but recently bought some Sleek Audio SA6 which I'm really enjoying at the moment. They sound great. I need that isolation on the buses and trains here in Korea.

i'd gone with the intention of buying some Etymotic Research ones but I couldn't find the ones I was looking for in Technomart. Happy with the ones I've got though. i guess if they didn't git properly they'd suck though haha.

Has anyone ever tested out the Shure headphones

I was looking at the SE110 Sound Isolating Earphones

http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Products/Earphones/SEModels/us_pa_se110_content

and the SE210 Sound Isolating Earphones

http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Products/Earphones/SEModels/us_pa_SE210_content

I am just wondering if the difference between them is highly noticable or not. I mean is there any real sound difference?

Has anyone used any Shure headphones.... would be good to get any feedback or opinions.... thanks

I've heard a few Shure earphones. I only really liked the Shure SE420, which are more expensive than the models you mentioned.

One's to consider at the $100 mark are D-Jays

http://www.enuri.com/search/Searchlist.jsp?searchkind=1&nosearchkeyword=&es=&c=&keyword=d-jays

The Westone UM1

Etymotic ER6i

Altec Lansing IM716 (best bargain out there at the moment - uses Etymotic drivers)

.......... amongst so many others out there at the moment.

V-Moda Vibe the best, and rugged. After buying it a year back, i am still loving it.

I bought my V-Moda in a shop near the city hall station. They let me try all the noise isolating HPs and earplugs. Infact this V-Moda stood out and i picked it. I can post the shop location once I find it.

Ok so after extensive research last night, it seems the Shure E2's, E3's and the Etymotic ER-4 are about the best in my price range.

this review was really helpful:

http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=22899&highlight=earphone+review

this review was helpful also:

http://www.earphonesolutions.com/beeaforipco.html

Review of :
Etymotic 6i
Etymotic ER-4
Shure E2c
Shure E3c
Shure E5c

sounds like if you can afford the E3's it would be worth it over the E2's.

In the end you really need to hear them and make your own choice.

Anyone know where you can test them? I saw some Shures for sale in the Yongsan Electronics Market. I think its ws 3 or 4th flor. They had a small corner store only selling earphones.. lots of test models. I will go there this week and try to test the shures.

Ill let you know if I do....
