Dearest buddies,
I enjoy nothing more than a delicious glass of scotch (and sometimes a port and congnac) on most evenings. It helps me relax in a noisy neighborhood and basically improves my mood. I'm otherwise healthy - never drink coke, never eat junk, exercise intensively every day, and simply couldn't care less.
I'm not a hagwon worker though and am forbidden from heavy drinking because of my early starts. I can see how starting work at 2 or 3pm every day could lead to daily heavy drinking.
I've no "I don't drink" option in the poll, as you can see. There's a reason for that. I'm not interested in hearing from you folks, I'm afraid. Booze turns people into douchebags without question, but, as I've always said, the best vindication for drugs and alcohol is having a conversation with someone who abstains. |

I drink too much and I know it.
I am trying right now to only do Friday and Saturday....without much success. There's always some teacher thing or some other excuse. Gonna keep at it though. |

I go in waves and it depends on what's happening. Before or after vacation, I drink more to either celebrate or drown my sorrow. If there are parties or dinners, I drink then. Some weeks I have a few beers or wine with dinner almost every night. Some weeks, like this week, I don't have jack to do or a reason to drink, my next drink will probably be Friday night. |

There's two ways to make friends in Korea.
Become a heavy drinker or go to church. Drinking is the less of the two evils. |

You could go to church after drinking...
I do neither, and have made friends. |

I was hitting the sauce hard in December/January-that eases up after winter solstice and there's more sunlight.
I'd say no-with the rice intake and being relatively close to the gym, I cut a lot out-although I am thinking a Big Rock Traditional will go down well Wednesday night. |

I knew a guy who used to go to the pink houses at Suwon Station after church. |

Two things:
- It's everyday drinker.*
- You should have an option in the poll for zero.
I'm having no problems avoiding booze and I know quite a few people here, both foreigners and Koreans alike, who don't drink at all.
*Sorry, but that's a pet peeve of mine. Every day and everyday are not the same word! Please don't get me started on alot.

The thing is, light drinkers have a higher life expectancy than abstainers, but well, I have noticed that drinking is quite high, esp. among expats. It's hard NOT to get caught up in the drinking culture, as just about every social activity involves a drink.
Koreans spend 2.9% of their GDP on booze, double that in the West. |

For me, it's mostly situational. I used to drink all of the time, but I also used to have co-workers that I would go out with after work. I don't go out with the newer co-workers, so it takes away that temptation. Also, if I lived in Seoul, I think I would go out more often- lots of trivia nights and drink specials on the weekdays. However, I live in Incheon where we don't really have these things.
So. I answered "weekend only"- but if you had asked me last year at this time, I would be more with the 4 days drinking, 3 days off option. |

Someone is bound to take a run at you about this, so I thought I'd give it to you gently.
Having a glass of wine a day, or a couple rum-and cokes every night, makes you an every-day drinker, but it doesn't make you an alcoholic. |

I spelt it both ways by accident. The wrong way was a typo. I'm well aware that everyday is an adjective and appropriate here. As for a zero option, I explained why there isn't one. |

Ah, yes. You must mean this, well, silly statement:
