I've noticed some of those low-setting 50cc scooters for sale at pretty high prices. Is it true that they're modded to go really fast for a 50cc? Any idea how much mods cost for such a thing? I wonder if someone would mod my ATX, and what it would cost?

I've seen some little 50cc bikes scream past me like indy cars when I was nearing top speed on my old 125cc. I own a 50cc now, and am curious if anyone on here knows anything about what modding they're doing here? Pistons and compression? Special engines?

I know there are a lot of reasons for this. For one, 50cc is the highest you can go without the need for a license or insurance -- many young guys have them. Second, they're pretty cheap to purchase.
