Those of you who are doing privates -- it's time to raise your prices.
Every restaurant but one that I've eaten at in the past few weeks has raised their prices.
Why not teachers? |

Didn't you hear? As a foreigner, you have no rights whatsoever. You can't even ask for more money than what the local hagwon consortium has decided is acceptable.

I don't teach any privates.
I'm just telling others to raise their prices, because turnabout is fair play. |

Does anyone know what the other private lesons cost?
For example what is the price of a math tutor? Has the price gone up in that few years? |

Prices of private lessons can vary greatly. Many Korean college students private tutor and their fees can be as low as 10 or 15,000 won per hour for various subjects including English. I talked to a mother once and she said math lessons from a Seoul National University graduate were the second most expensive (after English, SAT, AP, etc.). They seemed to charge around 30,000 won per hour for math tutoring.
How do you go about raising prices? Do you talk with the parent? Do you provide them with a letter stating your fee will rise? I've been thinking of raising my prices for a while and have been pondering the best way to do it. |
