without authorization. Here we go: who, if anyone, were these "contract employees" getting the information for and why? For their sakes, I hope it was neither Clinton nor McCain...

Two contract employees of the State Department were fired and a third person was disciplined for inappropriately looking at Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's passport file.
Spokesman Sean McCormack Thursday night confirmed instances of what he called "imprudent curiosity" by the State Department employees.
McCormack said the department itself detected the breaches, which occurred separately on Jan. 9, Feb. 21 and March 14. |

I don't see a conspiracy here.
As a matter of fact I see the system works.
A discretion was discovered, those involved were disciplined.
What more do we want? |

I allege no conspiracy. However, given the nature of some of the attacks against him, Obama's questions about this strike me as fair questions. Therefore, in response to your question, I think many of us would like to see Obama's questions about this answered, and soon. |

Probably not. It really could just be imprudent curiosity--take a peek and see if there was anything to feed the water cooler gossip mill. However, if these 3 people were directed to take a look by someone, then that is another story. |

I agree with you, they should (and hopefully are) interviewing the employees to find out why the breach happened. I won't jump to conclusions, but it does look like maybe someone was going fishing for some easy loot. If I had to guess it was probably for a newspaper, not an opposing candidates campaign. I'm glad they got canned for it. |

Will you accept State's answer if it continues to report that these individuals did it on their own because of Obama's celebrity status? That is, that is had nothing to do with any of Obama's competitors' campaigns?
Why or why not? |

The same thing happened to then-Governor Clinton and it turned out to have been on orders from the White House in connection with the campaign.

| It's pretty safe to assume that in these generally corrupt times all politicians are corrupt - and those politicians at the top are the most corrupt (but are enabled by partisan, highly sophisticated conspiracies to cover-up the corruption as much as possible.) |

McCormack said that senior management at the State Department was not aware of the incidents until Thursday afternoon. The breaches involving Obama's file occurred January 9, February 21 and March 14.
McCormack said that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had apologized to Clinton and Obama and would soon speak to McCain, who is traveling in Europe... |

I wonder if, upon further investigation, we find out that the 3 employees responsible for the breeches were operating on order from a political body. |
