I've finally done it. After 2 1/2 years. Yep. I put my Orange Cinnamon Rolls in the oven this morning and went off to take my shower. Came back out to clouds of smoke. The sticky orange topping bubbled over and the bottom of my oven has a pool of black, sticky, gooey burned sugar and orange juice.

Anyone know an easy way to get it cleaned up?

BTW, the recipe is super easy and pretty tasty.

2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 T of baking powder
2 T of mayonaise
3 T of shortning or butter
3/4 cups of milk

Mix everything except the milk with a fork, then add the milk. Stir more with the fork, then knead a few times with your hands.
Roll out on a smooth surface.

2 T butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon (or more)

Spread the butter over the dough, then sprinkle the mixed sugar and cinnamon.
Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into 10-12 slices and place in lightly greased 9" pan.

3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cups orange juice
1-2 t orange rind

Pour over the top and bake 20-25 minutes at 450 C.

Let cool about 5 minutes, then turn upside down on a plate.

When I was a teenager I decorated my windowsill with sugar and dye. It has never come off. Sugar sticks like alcohol on an Irishman's soul, it's really hard to get off.

I recommend throwing whatever you can salvage from your oven across the DMZ. The resulting explosion will clear the air.
