For all you sad bastards in SK living with swill, I salute you.
I was lucky enough to hit up the local grocery for some beer. What did I find? The "European Mix". A sixer each of Peroni, Tyskie, and Pilsner Urquell, all for $14. Who says oil is jacking up the prices on everything? If I wasn't lit I'd go back and buy the last four they had. Though I'm somewhat opposed to the crack dealer marketing strategy the distributor is using as these sixers bought seperately are $26.
I'd never had Peroni before. It's good.
And if you haven't had Tyskie or Pilsner Urquell find some and drink it. I miss the frumpy, hole in the wall bar in my college town that had Urkle on tap and a flattop grill that hadn't been cleaned since my Grandfather was a child.
Though I stand unconverted. The best beer I have ever had, or at least the consistently best beer I've ever had, is still Sam's Boston Ale. Delicious. With Pabst Blue Ribbon a sentimental second.
"Heineken? *beep* that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon" |

I really like a good stout, and I find that of what I can find on store shelves, in Michigan, Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout is my favorite. My favorite inexpensive beer is Molson Canadian... not bothering to hold my breath about them being in Korea though. Can anyone tell me if flavored rum, like Malibu is available in Korea? Makes for great Jello shots, and it comes in a plastic, baggage handler friendly bottle so I'm not worried about bringing it in my bags. Also, Korea has energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster (better) for making Jagerbombs right? Also, I prefer Heineken to PBR, in the states Heineken is twice as expensive as PBR but I find it refreshing. When I first started drinking beer Heineken was the first I developed a taste for, so that may have a lot to do with it, though I now prefer dark beer. |

Have you tried the variety of stouts available? Give Mackesons XXX a try. It's a cream stout, and different... but good.
Molson? Really? *beep* that bear, Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Have you ever seen 'Blue Velvet'? If not, do.
I forgot to mention Fat Tire. That is also an excellent beer.
PS-I meant to write bear, but wrote beer, or the other way around. That is. Hooray. |

i have favorite beers in different beer categories, but my favorite type of beer would have to be beligum ales. i think it's the highlight of what beers should be like. some brands like chimay, duvel, unibroqe are among my favorites. its too bad you can't find the stuff here in korea (though there is a place in shinchon that has duvel). my search continues. i personally think most lagers taste like piss. |

I don't know about the best beer in the world (partially due to my lack of taste, and partially due to my trashy upbringing), but I've always enjoyed a pint of Pilsner Urquell, and I've never been one to refuse a glass of Newcastle. |

IMHO, Erdinger hefeweizen is the best beer. Followed closely by Franzikaner.
In Asian beers, I'll have to tip my glass to the Sapporo in the big silver cup.
Killian's Irish Red is a pretty good American beer. |

Stone brewery. IPA is great although their 'arrogant bastard' is their flagship
If you have a 'beverages and more/bevmo' store in your area, check it out. |

Have to agree the Stone IPA is great, but I'm a huge IPA fan. Anything hoppy, and usually the hoppier the better, is good in my book. That said, I still enjoy bottles of Alaskan Amber when I see my family. Some of the best beers in the world are from the NW United States. Most you won't find because you can only get them on tap in the breweries themselves.
Go to Portland (at last count 40+ breweries) and have a great time. Beware though, that Portland also has the highest number of strip clubs per capita in the WORLD. Dirty and drunk, but an incredibly beautiful city. I love the Rose City. |

Good to see so many Pilsner Urquell fans on here. The Budvar is good too, but only in Czech Republic...
I think Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale and Stout stack up against the competition...
Grolsh, Anchor Steam, Steinlager, Pacifico...
Aye, sweet nectar!! The best beer in the world is without a doubt......drumroll please.......

Oh, I have had PBR before, and I agree that it IS better than the other beer that costs that little... like Milwaukee's Best *shudder* ... I've just graduated from college in December 2007 so the memories aren't quite faint enough of what MB tastes like. I will buy a six of Mackeson's XXX if Econo Foods carries it here - seems familiar but could be another triple X I'm thinking of. That La Fin Du Monde I'd REALLY like to try but I haven't a clue where to find it anywhere near me. Quebec is a nice friendly province and all but too far of a drive. Of Asian beers I've tried (only Sapporo, Asahi and Kirin Ichiban) the Kirin is absolutely my favorite. Can't wait to try some of the world class Korean brewing... |

I was a big Amstel fan ages ago. But when I get home, the only beer I buy is Molson Ex. |
