I bought my PSP back in 2006. It has 2.50 firmware. I used it for about 3 months and shelved it as I got busy.

The job I have now requires a commute, so I dusted off the old PSP.

A few things I need help on:

1) From what I read the audio out is just crap. Are buying earbud type headphones the only option to hearing sound while in a noisy bus?

2) I need to upgrade my 2GB memory to something like an 8GB. If I head to yongsan what prices am I looked at?

3) I want to play ISO games on it. What's the deal? I would like some specific info. Doing a search of psp hack sites isn't that easy as I don't really know what I am looking for, or where to start. I checked out some earlier posts, but they just said: Go here.

I want to know, do I have to go to 1.50 and then use something like homebrew? Is devhook still a viable ISO emulator or is there something better out there? Are there some sites that clearly explain all this in plain English for someone like me?

I luckily bought GTA: LCS back in 2006 so it is the version needed for the 2.50 hack.

I am just a bit confused on what I need to do to play ISO games.

(Oh yeah how do I find out which motherboard version I am using?)

YES

You do need to go here sorry: http://forums.maxconsole.net/forumdisplay.php?f=80

look for "Pandora".

Dev hook is pretty obsolete now days. You will be able to run iso files straight from the psp game menu once u use the pandora battery/magic mem stick to install custom firmware. I gather you have an orig. fat psp so it's easy. I can't explain it as well as maxconsole so just read up. If u want u can probably find someone in Youngsan to hack the psp for u for a small fee.

Again sorry but the site linked has the info. Don't worry yours is hackable.

Update:

Bought an 8GB sandisk and some earbud headphones.

My hacking brain is still trying to grasp what it is I do from the website you linked to me. I think it is just reading the right FAQ. The one link they had on pandora/mem stick they killed the link Sad

At any rate, charging up my sony battery so I can use it as a pandora battery. The other one I have is a china one which apparently won't work...

I think I paid a few thousand too much. Paid 96,000. Some websites show 91,000 as being the lowest price. Thing is it was raining and I just went to the closest guy near Yongsan Station...

Just downgraded to 1.50. Now to read up on what to do next...

Well done! It's all about reading.

Upgrading will be no problem .

Be aware of this :
I am running only 3.52-4 (M33) Firmware and can run all the new iso games inc. the new God of War and FF games.
3.52 still has a 1.5 core, so I can run any homebrew apps (like book reader and home brew mp3 player) without xtra patching required to do so on the latest firmware.
