I don't eat instant noodles that much but there is one kind I like and I'm wondering exactly how bad they are for me. I can't read enough Korean to understand the nutrition information, but the container I just ate has 95% of my daily allowance of something at 1890 mg. I assume that's sodium. So if I drink plain water for the rest of the day and don't eat anything else, I should be fine. Is high blood pressure an epidemic in this country? From the popularity of these packaged time bombs, I would think it would have to be.

I believe the RDA for sodium is higher in Korea than in the states too. I would actually love to see some research on the effect of all the instant noodles on Koreans. Anyone got some?

If you have high blood pressure I'd avoid instant noodles if at all possible.

Instant noodles are the first death knell in the Koreans healthy diet.

Son, is that you? You're going to have to join the Funky side sooner or later. Together, we can crush the rebel alliance.

The avatar is kind of weird. It brings out peoples latent sexuality. What is it about it that disturbs you, you can tell me everything.

190 calories from one serving which is defined as 1/2 of the cup or bag's content. Most people don't eat half a cup. They eat the whole cup. So that's 380 calories. That's like. Whoa.

Not health food, for sure.

You can also just get the smaller bowls or dont use all the powder.

I buy Shin Ramyun in Canada (or anywhere) -I dont have one here but the sodium is something like this. If youu split a pack between 3 people you all hit the daily limit. But "limit" is a suggestion of course.

I worry more about restaurant meals---saw a recent study TGIF type places and sodium is off the radar. Even in "healthy" stuff like salad. Chicken Ceasar is one the worst.

I often wonder how much attention to pay to this stuff----whole wheat bread is also wildly high in sodium...

Isn't it a legal requirement (in some countries) to show the nutritional value of food on the label?

I wonder will the same principles ever be applied to food in restaurants, i.e. they give you a breakdown of what you are actually eating.

I bet even supermarket sandwiches have funny chemicals in them.

Caesar salad is horrible for calories, loaded with cheese, cream, and oil. I would imagine anything name. Restaurants like TGIF goal is to make their food as tasty as possible to bring you back. Hence, they'll load it with fat.

Hypertension? It's no wonder the kids are always so restless, obscenely loud and impatient, even when they claim to be tired.
