Travel agent says she needs a scan of my passport before she can make a reservation. Is this SOP? Never had to do it when booking direct through airlines. Thanks.

sounds like a crock; have traveled in and out of K many times, only time my travel agent needed my PP was when he got me a visa for China.

he's booked me many tkts never asked for pp info. just nationality and telephone number and name of course

go somewhere else. don't know what she's up to but sounds crooked as the day is long Shocked

Thanks Mr. Moose. My officemate thinks the request is a little strange, too. I don't need a visa.

Maybe they just want to get your name on the ticket exactly the same as in your passport so no check-in trouble. If they really insist a passport copy is required, they probably don't know what's going on.

i used jongho from soho, who has been recommended hundreds of times on this board...i'm sure he's on his game and he needed my scan...i really think it's dependent on the airline you are flying through...

I think not - I've flown on probably every airline that flies out of Incheon, never needed it.

what I DO think is if someone was not a licensed agent, and was booking the tkt for you and then charging you for it, (surcharge) that would be a reason to have it.

but a licensed agent wouldn't need it. that's the only reason I can think of someone would ask for it.
