Hi everyone,
I need an instructional essay writing book for a 15 year old girl who lived in the US for 2 years. Any suggestions?

I also need a recommendation for an essay writing book, but my students are just beginners, so essays may be a stretch. Simple sentences would be good to start with.

Any advice?

"Share your Paragraph," by George M. Rooks

http://www.longmankorea.com/detail.aspx?ISBN=0136607969

It focusses a lot on generating and gathering ideas, prewriting, outline/drafting, revising, and then there are support sections on grammar and punctuation after the paragraph writing takes place.

I've used it with great success with low-level students up to high intermediate. If the students don't have much output with the paragraphs, there's lots of simple sentence construction, fill in the blank or punctuation work they can do.

It pretty much teaches itself, and it doesn't load the students down with a bunch of grammar points all at once. Instead it focusses on one or two per unit, and builds on it. Inexpensive and extremely effective. Comes with a very easy to use teachers book, not that you would need it.
