I may be coming to Korea in the next couple of weeks or so. I figure that the best way to make use of my time in Korea would be to learn stuff that is uniquely Korean. This would include the Korean language (obviously) and perhaps taekwando (not the best martial art but seemingly the most in demand in the West).

Can anyone think of any other ideas?

Take hapkido over taekwondo. Still Korean, and infinitely more useful and fun!

I took taekwondo as a kid. Was thinking of taking it up again, since I'll be there..

what makes hapkido more useful and fun?

Anyone know of any Korean craft making places near Seoul? I'm interested in learning how to make some traditional pieces of artwork.

The thing is that I am thinking of what I will do for money should I ever return to the West. If I were to start a martial arts franchise then tkd would seem to be the most in demand. Of course it is not the most useful for fighting - for that Western military CQB would probably be the thing to learn - but you can't serve God and Mammon at the same time.
