I'm really looking for some help regarding this situation. I'll try to keep it as brief as possible. When I'm in Korea teaching under an E2 Visa I have no issues with health care coverage as I'm obviously covered under the Korean National Plan. However, it's what to do when I'm going back home to visit my parents in between contracts or when I'm traveling abroad that is an issue. I no longer have a health care card in Canada. Most travel insurance policies I've looked at require a provincial health care card. The only policy I've been able to find that possibly might work would be worldnomads.com although I am still unsure. If this would cover my international travel plans that would be fantastic. However, I still am unsure of what kind of coverage I can seek while in Canada for 1 or 2 months to visit my parents. I just got out of the hospital in Kuala Lumpur with a bill close to $700 dollars for just two days of treatment for something that is very routine - a huge wake up call for me. I'm now traveling in SE Asia without insurance of any kind and feeling very uncomfortable. Any advise would be appreciated

Hi.. I just got a 4 week policy with World Nomads while travelling in Thailand. It's a little spendy ($90 for 4 weeks) but the coverage is complete and seems to be recognized worldwide...

I have looked into Worldnomads as well. As I understand it, for their coverage, you need to have provincial health insurance if you are from Canada.

I'm looking for some kind of travel insurance for when I start in SE Asia next month, but am having a really hard time finding answers. Can anyone help?

I found a company that will insure me even though I don't have provincial health care. www.worldtrips.com
I bought a policy for my trip for three months. I bought it over the phone, and they sent the information, confirmation and printable insurance card via e-mail.
I'm sure they can provide insurance for Canadians, and I'm pretty sure they cover Americans as well. I don't know about anyone else though. Check the website, or call 1-877-279-7959

Hope this helps
