Tell me everything I need to know! I have no idea. Searches have only told me about other people's situations, but I would like to know some good travelling tips. Things to see, buy, where to go, what to do, what to eat, etc. Anything appreciated! |

Are you talking about a 2 night weekend away?
That isn't hardly enough time to do more than get your feet wet and get a stamp in your passport.
You leave here Friday. Get there early on Saturday morning. Go to the hotel. Sleep till noon.
Wake up. Have lunch. Take a walk on the beach (if you are at a beach resort). Perhaps take a swim (not great beaches around Cebu city).
If you are like most 2-day tourists on Boracay you will never leave the white beach area. If you do, the whole island is only 7km long and 1km wide so it's virtually impossible to get lost.
Do some shopping at D'Mall, cruise the pubs/clubs along the beach.
Party the night away. Head back to the hotel. Sleep, wake, repeat, return home.
If you end up in Cebu you won't have the time to do much more that Boracay. Swim, shop eat, party and return. Finding a party place outside of Ayalla mall or your own beach resort might be difficult with only 1 night for exploring.
TIPS:
Pack light. Carry your own bag. If someone helps you they expect a tip for it or it may just disappear when your back is turned.
Avoid the touts on the beach or around the airport or ferry terminals. They will only raise the price for something you can easily do yourself for 1/2 the price.
Insist on the meter rate when you get into a taxi. The flat rates they offer will usually be about double (or more) the meter rate.
Make sure the food and drink you consume is bottled, canned, or freshly cooked. Avoid ice when you can. It may not (especially outside the tourist areas) be from purified water.
Around Cebu you can get OK stuff in the malls but you can get cheap (low cost) trinkets and stuff at the stalls over by the Lapu-lapu shrine on Mactan.
Around Cebu you should not pay more than p1500-2000 to hire a taxi for a day (average ~p250/hour) to do your touring (if that is your interest).
Change your money here and get the smallest bills you can. 1000's are too big for anywhere outside a tourist resort or shopping mall. 500's are better. You will need to get some 100's for taxis and incidentals. Most taxis and small shops can't/won't make change for anything larger than a p50 note.
If you want more, use the search engine and do individual searches in the travel forum for: Philippines, boracay, cebu, mactan.
You can also just scan backward. There is lots of great stuff back there from a few of us who spend large amounts of time down there.
