France pledges more Afghan troops
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said he will send more troops to Afghanistan to support Nato's mission.
He said he would make the offer at the Nato summit in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, next week.
Nato leaders have frequently called on member countries to contribute more soldiers to the mission in Afghanistan, to help defeat Taleban insurgents.
The Nato-led International Security and Assistance Force (Isaf) currently has around 41,000 personnel in Afghanistan.
