I've never bought a one way ticket before. I'm not even sure they're offered and I know after 9/11, anyone buying a one way ticket is an immediate terrorist suspect.
maybe I should offer to buy a one way ticket with cash?
hahahahah
but seriously..
how did you guys approach this?
(obviously when I search sites for best fares, it's based on round trip)
my contract says I buy ticket and get re-imbursed. |

Most of the online sites have an option for one-way. It will likely be close to the price of a round-trip ticket, certainly not half the price.
Just did a quick search on Travelocity:
NYC>ICN
RT$1,344
OW$947

I bought my ticket online no problems.
I did have my visa by the time I caught my flight. |

Just buy the ticket. Shouldn't be a problem. |

I got a great deal on a one-way flight from Vayama. It's worth a look. So are Kayak and the other usual suspects (Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, etc.). |

America doesn't give a rat's ass about people LEAVING the country one way.
Even if they did, going to Korea ain't like making a trip to Afghanistan. |

I bought a 1 way to NY when I was in Amman, Jordan; paid cash for it.
both actions are well known to be reasons for red flags
guess who was pulled aside for 'in-depth' search ?
but the biggest surprise was landing in NY via Egyptian Air - virtually every passenger had to show a passport upon disembarking - immediately - and then and only then were we allowed to proceed into the terminal and onward to immigration.
the uniformed men who did the meet & greet had spanking new uniforms on of an agency I did not recognize - very SS in my mind tho.
was quite the event to arrive home to after being away for several years. |

I bought a one way to Korea once. I simply purchased a refundable ticket to Japan to show the airlines and immigration. No one ever asked me for it. It cost me 30,000 won to get it refunded, not bad insurance. |

Lesson Plan #1 Travel Agency
Travel Agent: Can I help you?
Bogey666: I want to buy a one-way ticket.
Travel Agent: What is your destination?
Bogey666: I want to go to Korea.
Travel Agent: Do you want a roundtrip ticket?
Bogey666: No thanks a one-way ticket is fine.

Well i got a one way ticket from my little airport all the way to ICN. The only odd thing is that for the first time I was randomly chosen for a more in-depth check before i got on the first plane of my trip. It included patting me down and swabbing everything for bomb residue. I dont know if it was just coincidence or luck of the draw. |
