|
|
Do you have any say about which bank your hagwon uses for direct deposit? If I want to have an account with Standard Chartered for their int'l ATM benefits, can I state this upfront, or do hagwons typically have set banks that they deal with and I have to take it or leave it?
It would be a complete hassle to have to transfer money between banks every month. I guess I could remove my salary as cash at the ATM and deposit at a SC branch, however, I'd rather not have to go through that crap if possible.
Any and all knowledge on this subject would be appreciated. |

Some schools have a bank they prefer to deposit your pay into. Others don't care.
But you don't have to withdraw money from one and deposit it into another- you can electronically transfer your paycheque through the ATM. I think there's a fee of 1,200원 for the transfer. |

The hogwon can't tell you what bank to use, but it's probably easier for both of you to use their bank. |

Damn, that was a fast answer! Let me guess, you're at work too, right? Thanks, bro.
I don't know if most banks in the U.S. have such a feature that would allow you to transfer between two DIFFERENT banks by ATM. I don't think I've seen a "Wachovia" option at a "Bank of America" ATM, for example. But if that feature is possible in Korea, wonderful. What's 1200 iN USD? I'm too lazy to look it up at the moment. |

Yes, but I really want a bank that will allow me to use their ATM card anywhere in the world. Hence the reason for my question about Standard Chartered being my bank of preference. |

You can also use Internet banking to transfer money, most banks have an english option for internet banking so its pretty simple.
1,200won is about $1.20 give or take. |
