Hey, I'm considering coming back to Korea. I already spent a year there so I know pretty much what I'm getting into. But instead of getting a job while I'm here I was considering travelling there by myself and trying to set up shop. But is it still possible to do that with the new regulations? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hey tanklor, I asked this question also a few weeks ago and the answer I got was that if you have previously held an E-2 visa without problems from Immigration, you're able to come back and then go on a visa run when you get a job.

If you haven't held an E-2 previously, you're out of luck!

You can do a visa run after your employer runs through the process and gets you a visa number. It is just easier if you prevously held an E series visa.

I had a coworker receive an E2 visa from Japan. My coworker had been staying off and on in Korea for nearly a year on a C series visa and never held an E series visa.

It can be done without too much difficulty. PM if you want me to send you a document from the Korean gov't outlining the process.
