These are the words of Gen. Paul Eaton when referring to the current administrations policy in Iraq. So what do you thinnk? Beyond our intention or beyond our capability.

| This is hard diplomatic work, and is apparently beyond our current Secretary of States intent or capability. |

The British quelled the rebellion in Iraq when they ruled it in the 1920s. Bombed villages. Rounded up all suspicious characters. Shot lawbreakers.
I know people think the Americans are being bullies in Iraq, but they are behaving with vastly more restraint than the 19th century Western empires. The Germans slaughtered 70,000 Herero in Namibia to suppress their rebellion (in a sparsely populated desert country).
So, not impossible, just not what most of us want to do. We would have to become as ruthless as the Russians in Chechnya. And as willing to commit overwhelming force. 160,000 American troops is not that many in a country of millions. |

| Take away cameras, journalists, and reporters. Blackout Iraq for a few weeks. I bet you the US can do MORE in those 3 weeks than they have in the past 5 years. |
