We're looking for some BIG suit cases to take wish us on our move to the States this summer. Big enough to be allowed as a free check-on item on a plane. Thanks! |

I have a BIG suitcase that is about the maximum size you can check-in. I got it for free. The extending handle, however, doesn't extend (It's internally bent). But everything including the wheels work.
You can have it if you come to central Seoul to get it at a convenient time.
PM me if interested. BB |

Just look around Dongdaemoon and Itaewon. Luggage and bags galore. |

My wife got a huge one online. It is basically a big black canvas bag, on 4 wheels. Fill it up and you pull it around on a dog lead type of thing.
Could probably fit a couple of Koreans in it, no problem. |

FYI: For Dongdaemoon, get out of Jeongno-5ga and go south. On the same block, turn left. Don't cross the street over to Chungyechun or you've gone to far. On that street, not sure which direction, there are a bunch of small shops. I believe it's on the block opposite that big Chinese produce market which I forgot the name of.
For Itaewon, just walk up and down the street. You'll find those touristy type buildings and then smaller shops and stalls with bags.
Try going to a post office and find boxes that you can ship items in. It'll cost a bit but it's worth it not having added weight to carry on a plane. |

thanks for all the tips! unfortunately, we don't live up in Seoul anymore. we're also trying not to have to ship anything back because it's pricey so we're going to get a lot of big suitcases for our family and in-laws (who will help us move) to take with us on the plane. we'll be able to have a maximum of 14 check-on bags! that should be enough for us to take all the stuff we're going to take back with us. |

I've been thinking that this is a good way to go. On my last trip back to the states, I lost a lot of good Western-product space in my huge suitcase because the darn thing weighed several kilos itself! |

I've found that when volume trumps portability, several well-packed quality cardboard boxes inside a military-grade duffel work fine. |

If you have a car, think about taking a drive up to Songtan, slightly north of Pyeongtaek (back gate of Osan Airbase). Lots of luggage places...and cheap!! |
