I know the styles of Korean kids hair has been discussed at length but the sighting of these mullets deserves a mention. Was anyone else walking around Itaewon on Sunday day and notice the 2 body builder type guys with ginger/orange mullets past their shoulders ??? The top was all blow dried with a wave and the back was in beautiful condition down to their mid back - so straight that most girls would envy them. Wish I had my camera then and their as it was a sight for the record books. Don't know if the circus was in town but it was pretty amusing. |

Could be the diet of 80s "action" movies shown on Korean cable that's too blame, influencing the youth. Mel Gibson, Hasselhorf, Steven Segal et al and the other Mullet kings.
Or, did you ever see the specimen on the Korean soccer team's reserve goalkeeper? God, it had to be seen to be believed! |

The best description I have heard about mullets......
The front says "Lets do business"and the back says"Lets party!"
I more concerned about those Afro cuts that have started to appear!
In the name of all that is right and decent.....No!!!! |

Maybe the Koreans are getting themselves ready to become major players in the porn industry. Porn Stars usually have mullets. Mainly the German ones, who you see a lot of. Just stereotyping people but when i went to Australia, a lot of people had mullets.

Actually I'm thinking about that, and while I've never been to Australia, I have seen alot of Australians with mullets abroad.. |

I just came back from touring around north/central/midwest US, and I saw some great mullets! Some people got stuck in the 80's... however, I believe that mullets are on the way back "in" all over the world, folks.
Fashion's 20 year cycle and all that... Don't think they're only in Korea. Hell no! I'm in Oz right now and I've noticed that the trendy elite (whatever) definitely have some suspiciously mullet shaped heads... albeit with a millenium touch... trust me... mullets will be on European/American magazine covers before the year is out.
Man, even the latest Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennesee had a whole field divided into several camps all named after different kinds of mullets...
They are back with a vengeance! Mark me... |

I've had three different kids with mullets.
I think the haircut is what made all of them idiots. |

That's the one Holy Joe, but when I saw him playing in international matches it seemed even longer and thicker. Have the taste police arrested and jailed him yet? I'd recommend a ten year sentence minimum, no parole
Mullets definitely do reside in the porn star realm but I think 80's soccer stars were definitely the dominant leaders. Keegan, Waddle, Hoddle, Careca god even Maradonna couldn't stop himself jumping on the furry mullet bandwagon.
If mullets are adopted as the de facto new fashion fad in Korea I'll have to consider my residence here and if president Noh were to bow to conformity pressures and join in with a permed beauty that would be it...just to scary to comprehend |

Aye, there were some better pictures of Byung-Ji's abomination but I was having trouble linking them.
He has an official website which have some rather frightening pictures in the photo gallery |

Also deserving an honourable mention in the 1980s knights Round Table of World Soccer mullet princes is RUDI VOELLER. Jeez that guy, who tortured world defences, purely in a soccer sense, for the best part of ten years had a permed mullet so dazzling it made Waddle and Careca's offerings look like short-back and sides by comparison. Since he's been managing Germany it's been trimmed a bit however. The thick tuetonic moustache accentuated the "You don't know it but I'm making X rated movies to supplement my income when I'm not playing in world cups" impression.
Now this has nothing to do with the mullet phenomenon in Korea but bear with me, I have a theory:
Up until the early 80s and especially during Park Chung Hee's reign it was an offence for young men to have long hair. Apparently they were either arrested or trimmed on the spot. Could the older generation be encouraging their sons to grow mullets to signify the end of that oppresive era?
Is there a correllation or am I grasping at straws?
I have a confession to make: I had a mullet in 1987 but cannot supply photograhic evidence here. |

I'm with you on the footballing front... Frank McAvennie had a howler, though he was a ridiculously big hit with the ladies in his time.
I don't know if you've seen the Footballer's Haircuts website, but it seems like the perfect time to bring it up! |
