It's usually early April I think, but that's a pretty weather dependent festival |

True, Namsan is nicer, has older trees, and isn't nearly as crowded. Plus I don't think there's anything amazing that goes down in Yeouido for the festival. Just a bunch of people milling around. |

Yes, the Yeouido festival is just strolling under the trees, which are quite nice. Not many places to picnic though. The Korean festival I'd really like to go to is the one in Masan. |

Yeouido sometimes has free shows that you can catch. I went last year during the festival and got to watch Nanta for free. |

I live in jinhae and a taxi driver said its starting late march this year. Though, knowing what I know about taxi drivers, I'll take that with a grain of salt |

The most famous one in the country is in Jinhae (Jinhae, Masan and Changwon are really all one city, divided by a mountain.) It always begins around the first of April, but this year it probably starts on March 29 (Saturday).
The best day of the festival is the first day, because they have a fireworks display from the top of the little mountain downtown. Crowds are horrendous.
All cherry blossom festivals in the country are the same--walk around under the trees. Not exactly a special activity. Jinhae does have a big street market set up for the festival where you can buy screwdrivers and socks, belts and back scratchers. |

The one in Kyongju is quite nice, too. The "Cherry Marathon" will be April 5.

Cherry Blossom Festivals? Any similarity to Cherry Popping Festivals?
If yes, then you can count me in. |

Does Namsan do anything special? Or is just a walk around? Same time period (early to mid April?) |
