Case in point the OP starts the discussion.

I am thinking of pulling a runner who what where when and how type
questions.

Someone responds with a tragic my co-teacher hates me and I've been
sick maybe I should do a runner too.

The someone is accused of 'hijacking' the thread.

What say you?

I could see an accusation here if the someone had said like yeah what if
Oswald had pulled a runner after shooting Kennedy with a magic bullet.

I mean that would be a hijack.

The someone was on topic about runners but just had a different take.

Should all replies be direct responses to the OP only?

In my opinion that post in the job forum was NOT a hijacking. Rather parallel interests allowing a cross pollination of ideas and concepts.

It's the kind of thing that I'd do, so that makes it infinitely acceptable.
