So I got a prepaid phone at yongsan last weekend from a lg stand, and I was wondering, how do I check my balance on the phone and where can I take it to recharge or buy a new card?

The person selling the phone didn't speak English and used gestures and writing down numbers to understand how much each minute and message costs and stuff, but I didn't understand one part, where she wrote something like "##98" and "114" and I'm assuming it has somethign to do with balance or paying for it or something but I was just wondering if anyone had any idea? Thanks.

Dial *81, connect. When automated voice picks up, click 2. To recharge, buy a YES card at a convenience store, dial *81, hit 2, wait till the balance is read, and then it'll ask to recharge by hitting 1. Enter your card number and done.

You can also call customer service (through the menu when you dial *81) and they can recharge your phone credit over the phone if you happen to run out and don't have another card. It's not possible to buy phone cards where I am outside of Seoul and I've had to do that a few times. They spoke great English and I just had to give them my ARC number and bank card number and I had more credit in 5 minutes. It's a good backup that I was glad to discover.

Didn't seem to work? I pressed *81 and then a voice says "If you are prepaid card member, press KA(?????? hard to decipher accent) now." And if I press 2, it says "that is not an available option."
