Okay, so my Korean friend kept telling me to watch this Korean movie called "My Sassy Girl". I said well one, I can't understand Korean. But she downloaded it for me from I don't know where *with English subs* and forced me to sit and watch it. I say 'forced' because of course I was expecting some sappy predictable Korean drama or slapstick comedy. And for awhile I thought I was right.

But even with translations, it was a geat movie! Probably one of the best I've seen in a LONG while. It was hilarious, but they way it's built up, you don't expect how poignant it is. I really was tearing up at the end.

I'm sure most or many of you have seen it. But if you haven't, PLEASE watch it! This is the kind of movie I wish there were some kind of Movie viewing event in Seoul for westerners. I would definitely go and watch it again.

Agree or disagree?

I agree with you to a certain extent. I wouldn't describe it as one of my all time favs, but it's certainly enjoyable. like the music at the end and it's got the lovely jeon ji hyun in it. Only thing i thought was missing and absolutely ESSENTIAL to the story was a graphic sex scene. Cool

Introducing people to some decent Korean movies can be at times quite frustrating. I know they will love it and thank me afterwards, but the initiation is hard. "What? Koreans make movies? Oh, whatever.." Their loss.. Wink

Is that the movie where the girl 'forced' the guy to wear her high heels through the park?
I hope not, because that movie has got to be the worst Korean movie I have ever suffered through, bar none.

Hmmmm.... Rolling Eyes

After just a couple of weeks you were expecting sappy predictable dramas and slapstick, eh? Smells like somebody left their drawer open...

Best movie ever?

Put down the pipe!

I don't know of any guy who wants to watch a flick about a pr1ck tease, however hot she may be, play serious head games with a guy while he never gets any. Sounds entertaining? Not in the least. Sounds like torture.

They guy was completely whipped even though he never got any. She really enjoyed screwing with his head.

I hated it, so I couldn't stomach watching it until the end.

Girls thought it was soooo cute. Reinforcing that playing head games is cute ain't cute!

I buy a lot of Korean movies on DVD (My Sassy Girl being one) but I'm not going to watch them until I move home. The movie was a real sensation throughout Asia. It has fixed in the minds of many Asian men what Korean women are: loud and pushy. Kind of like how Yonsama has convinced Asian women Korean men are sincere and gentle.

I would put Oldboy on my top 10 list of great movies
Now, this list includes Citizen Kane, The Godfather 1 and 2, so a movie like My Sassy Girl would not even make my top 50, let alone my top 10.
Don't get me wrong, it was a very funny movie and I enjoyed it a lot, but it is not what I would call a great film, just a nice, entertaining flick.

Note: Oldboy made the IMDB top 250 films at 118.
