|

I got a mail today from someone applying for a job. He said he's Singaporean and he speaks English as his first language and went to university in Australia.
He claims he qualifies for an E-2 visa. I am thinking 1 of 2 things:
1. he qualifies because he got Australian citizenship.
2. he is full of crap.
Does anyone know how it works in these situations? |

If he's Singaporean & holds that passport, then he does NOT qualify.
Hence crap.
If he holds an Australian passport, comes here with a horrible accent. He'll be fired because his English is hence "crap".
Either way, avoid the problem.

Ask to see the information page of his passport.
If it is from one of the approved 7 countries, then he is good to go.
(USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, N.Z., South Africa).
If it is not, then he can crow all he wants about his great English, he still cannot get a visa or work legally as a teacher.
