Say I ordered about 1,000,000 won worth of electronics over the internet.
What kind of duty or taxes will I most likely have to pay?
Also, any known way to get around this, say for instance, if the shipper states the items are used, broken, a prize etc? |

Yawn....I've seen this thread some 8 gazillion times.
But...I'll help you out since I'm such an extraordinarily nice guy.
Send the stuff from the retailer (or wherever) to your home address (your permanent address, which I assume is NOT in Korea). Whoever lives there (friend, family member) takes the package to the post office and sends it, claiming that the valuables contained within are worth, say $300. When the package arrives in Korea, you'll either be hit with a) a small tariff or b) nothing; no tariff. For example, a computer worth "$500" might run you about W70,000.
Either way you win. Game. Set. Match. |
