A man I consider one of my personal heroes, Dith Pran, has died today of cancer. RIP.

Sad.

Haing S. Ngor, the actor that played him in the movie had an amazing life story.
He was also sent to a forced labor camp where his wife died due to complications in childbirth. Although he was a doctor, a gynaecologist actually, he was unable to save his wife and the baby because to do so would reveal his skills to the KR who would have killed his family.

The poor bugger was then shot and killed by some muggers in LA in 1996 because he refused to hand over a locket containing a photo of his wife.

Yes, I was very saddened, and frustrated, by his death.

The ending of "The Killing Fields" always makes me emotional.
