It starts April 4. Friday American time, though it will be Sunday morning in Korea by the time the torrents are up.

Just watched

Battlestar.Galactica.Revealed.WS.DSRip.XviD-aAF

It was a 20min recap of the seasons. It was nice to set things up for next week Smile

I started watching this show recently. It looks pretty good. I'm on season 1 and I hate the stupid Doctor/Professor.

He won't be going away. His scenes can get annoying, however, I chose to look at it as a guy who is pretty good at acting. In season 3 he really shines IMO.

Thanks Smile I love BSG, but I'm afraid I've forgotten a lot of small details since Season 3 ended. Razor helped a little bit, but this will probably help more.

Does anyone know what Season 4 will be like? Are they going to actually find Earth? What year will it be on Earth?

First, download utorrent or another torrent program. Then go to piratebay or mininova and download new episodes. Yes, this is considered pirating, but since you're in Korea, there is no other possible way of watching new episodes aside from waiting a year or two and buying the dvds which are probably pirated anyways.

Actually, moving television shows that aren't DVD rips isn't pirating. People have been allowed to make copies of them legally since VHS came out. As long as you aren't making money off it, or paying for an unauthorized service.

TV studios don't go after pirates, it is the movie studios and music companies.

Actually no.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Corp._of_America_v._Universal_City_Studios,_Inc.

The most relevant paragraph is first:

Quote:
Sony Corp. of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc., 464 U.S. 417 (1984)[1], also known as the "Betamax case", was a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States which ruled that the making of individual copies of complete television shows for purposes of time-shifting does not constitute copyright infringement, but is fair use. The Court also ruled that the manufacturers of home video recording devices, such as Betamax or other VCRs (referred to as VTRs in the case), cannot be liable for infringement. The case was a boon to the home video market as it created a legal safe haven for the technology, which also significantly benefited the entertainment industry through the sale of pre-recorded movies.

Note the words "complete TV shows" and for "timeshifting purposes." It's for private home use, not to distribute to thousands of friends on the Internet.

The technology has moved faster than the law, not for the first time!

IMO the problem here is advertising. You pay for the media by watching the ads. The best counter to this is to integrate the ads with the media, like what you see in professional sports.

Show me where TV studios go after pirates for distributing TV rips. I am not talking about polished DVD box sets...

TV Rips are like using a PVR/VHS or other means to backup and watch later.

Legally there is no difference between ripping a tv show and sending it to your "friend" or recording that tv show your mom wants to see on VHS because she doesn't have cable.

You are right, they make their money by using ads. Also, with syndication, most tv shows are shown over and over again, thus the network makes money more than once on that original show.

Networks like HBO where you pay a premium to watch it might be on the prowl, but I haven't heard of any case where these guys have gone after pirates who download.

They go after those guys who bootleg their DVD sets and try to steal in that way.

With the movie/music guys, they are losing billions so of course they are going to go after the pirates.

Whether they're going after people or not has nothing to do with legality. And note that the court didn't say it was ok to give it to friends. Anyway I don't think that putting a torrent on the Internet can in any way be misconstrued for giving it to a few friends. The file can be copied and recopied time and time again. The TV studios may not be going after people yet, but believe me, if they see this as hitting the bottom lines then they will try.

Or they will try to turn it to their advantage.

Anyway my bittorrent is eagerly waiting for this weekend. Interesting legal discussions aside I'm not gonna let any of that shit get in the way of my favorite TV show!

It may sound funny, but being in Korea I never think twice about downloading tv shows. I can't wait for some BSG2003.

Don't mean to be picky but it's Galactica[b]

I'm a huge fan too and amazed at how well they revamped it. In it's own right I still think the old series has its own appeal, but kudos to the new creators for revamping it so well.
