I'm a little concerned about a couple of things that I noticed while going thru pay slips.
1) I started work on 26 Nov, and didn't get paid til the end of Dec. That's not a problem in itself. However, my employer gave me two seperate pay slips for those months. What is worrying is that, in spite of earning just 350K in Nov, they took off a full months deductions for that month - about 150K. Why should I be paying a full months deductions on a 5-day salary? Am I getting screwed.
2) Just now, I noticed something worying on my payslip. Next to what I was told was my pension deduction, it says '국민현금'. Surely pension deductions go straight to social security. Is my boss putting the money into his own acct.
3) Does anyone know the exact rates we should be paying? I am paying 3% income tax. Someone told me it should be about 1.5%. |

Pension is 4.5% of your salary. Premiums are based on pay brackets and you pay the full months premium even if you only work 4 days in the month (based on your pay bracket).
Medical is ~2.5% of your salary (1/2 of 5.03%).
Taxes are on a sliding scale but at 2.3 mil (as an example) the tax is only 45k won.
There should be NO other deductions from your salary without your explicit approval. There are no other legally required deductions for employees on an E2 visa.
