I read this thread...
Homeless guy attack and was thinking,

Is there anything about Korean culture that you like? Is there something that you would like to bring back home? There is only one thing I can think of is that kids can walk around unattended (though this has it's own problems) without fear of being kidnapped or worse. Other than that, I can't think of one thing of "Korean culture" that shouldn't be eliminated from society. This is an honest question and not just a bashing session.

Oh no, thought of another. Panchan, love the idea.

Number one is a good one. Number two is too general, not specific to Korea and number 3 is Japanese Wink

well........hmmmmmmmmmm.....

I wish we could get drunk and walk everywhere we want.

in korea all the world is a toilet, where kids can pee, or drunk men, or students can vomit...... that is sort of convenient.

in korea there are no germs, they touch money, then hand you spoons while touching the end, they handle raw pork dripping with blood and then bring you more lettuce or side dishes that they stir or fill with those same bloood soaked hands, they use the toilet and then bypass the sink. I guess that is why everyone seemed to be coughing and hacking last month when I came back.

The almost complete physical safety..

Last night I saw a girl walking home at 2am..COMPLETELY plastered..like she was almost toppling with every step..falling into dark alleys...She would have been raped and robbed within ten minutes of leaving a bar back home...

Kids, women and even young men can walk around in almost absolute safety..Its one of the things i absolutely love about this place. Its so refreshing to be able to go to a drinking establishment and not have to be aware of everyone in the room and their possible violent tendencies.. I dont have to worry about walkin down tiny dark alleys at night..I dont have to worry about that group of lads walkin towards me at night..

You have been lucky. Violence is actually quite common here, especially against girls. Try being a cute blond, trust me, my friend is. In the day, you're right. At night, when drinking is involved, you are very, very wrong except for the group of lads, which I agree with.
