Do you have any family that can request it for you at your local police department? That's what I did. I received my apostilled CRC here last week. |

How did you your family go about getting it? What paperwork or authorization did they need. I need to get one in texas. |

Assuming that you're already in Korea and need the CBC to extend your visa:
The State of Texas offers an online option.
Once you purchase and print out the background check, you can take the check to the U.S. Embassy and swear out an affidavit stating that the check is authentic. Attach the background check, sign the affidavit before the consular officer, and get them to notarize it. Per a Deputy Director of Korean Immigration, they will accept this in lieu of an apostille. See my post in the E-2 sticky thread, page 46, for more info including points of contact at the U.S. Embassy and Korean Immigration. |

The local police department conducted both a national (NCIC) and state (FCIC) check and had it sent to the State of Florida Department of State to have it apostilled. I have NO RECORD FOUND on both accords . I had several copies sent just to be sure.  |

| Hi, can the local police department apostille the check after they do crim. bckgrd. check? I called and they said they "notarize" these---is that the same?? |

How long did it take overall? Where can I get fingerprinted in Korea? I need mine shipped to Korea by the end of this month.
Also, I found sites similar to this one.

But they don't look very official. Will immigration accept checks from these sites? |

There was an initial indication that online background checks from private companies would be accepted. This has not materialized, however. The immigration regulations state that the check must be issued by a government authority. It can be at the federal, state, provincial, or local level.
This would presumably include an online check offered by the state government, as long as you can get it authenticated by apostille or at your country's embassy/consulate in Korea. |

To bad so far as I can find, GA doesn't offer online checks. |

I got a money order from Hana Bank for 18 dollars.
16000 won to mail it via Korean post office's one week air service
March 18
My form was received by the FBI
April 2
My completed CBC was received by my mom in the states.

How long did it take overall? About 19 days.
Where can I get fingerprinted in Korea? A police station
A state-level check would probably be faster than the FBI.

I may have to go with the FBI one though. According to everything I've found, I have to show up in person to get my background check in GA, but my parents are checking today to see. |
