|
|
I've been here for a month, and its now at the point where I need to pay some bills. My school told me that I could pay them at an ATM and circled the account number and name of the bank I needed to pay. I went to an ATM (for KB bank) and attempted to pay one, but I'm not sure if I did it right. I clicked on "Transfer Money" and then entered the bank name, account number, and amount. It went through okay, but then it suddenly occured to me, how do they know who the money is from and what bill is being paid??? I am so confused... |

They get told whose account the payment comes from in their passbook or by Internet so there are probably no problems. Just keep your receipt and don't pay again until you can see tat they received your payment. They give you 3 months before they cut you off so no panic. |

Okay, I've been trying to read through past threads on this topic, but now I have more questions. Is there a certain machine that I am supposed to use? I read about people actually inserting their bills into the machine, or typing in information about who it is from, but I was never asked to do this. Can someone walk me through the whole process (for KB bank)? Thanks |

Actually good point. There are 2 ways to pay bills one is to use a specific ATM that scans the OCR part of the bill. The other is to do the transfer at any ATM. If you do this you need to contact the money recipient.
What you will need to do is take a copy of the receipt to your school and have them call the company with the payment details. Hope that eases the stress. |

there is also a 3rd way at the bank, there should be a machine with envelopes also near the bill paying atm. stick all your ocrs in that total it on the front and enter that amount in when prompted
or if you are totally lost at the bank, go to a security guard with all your bills and point, they should be able to help you.
heck i even now help koreans use the machine and my korean aint worth squat |

My bank has a machine in the lobby that I use to pay bills. It looks kind of like an atm machine. I just swipe my passbook, insert the bills, and it automatically pays them. I assume most banks have these so try looking for one in the lobby of your bank or just show your bills to an employee and someone should be able to direct you to it. |

Those automatic bill-reader machines are the single greatest thing about Korea. |
