Hi,

Just an update. I had my British criminal check authenticated at the British embassy in Busan. Literally I stamped letter from the consulate. The charge was the same as the UK (80,000- British Gov-tsk!!) but is done immediately.

Had lots of confusing info before I arrived but this is the easiest way of getting round things I found

For UK members -

My CRC was apostilled in-house by the official that gives out CRCs in the UK . Is that enough for Busan immi. ?

OK the British embassy is still validating documents. What about the American embassy? Anybody recently gotten an affidavit for a CBC for visa application purposes?

I just did the process as recommended by others on this site. I submitted my FBI check with only a declaration that I wrote and an apostille from the State of California. It was accepted and I received my visa from the consulate in Los Angeles this week.

Hi, I'm currently an English teacher in Prague, looking to move to South Korea in the near future. Can anyone please help me and let me know the new visa rules there? Is it necessary for me to return to my home country to start my paperwork, or can I start the visa paperwork from abroad? Also, I was wondering if teachers are allowed to work while their papers are being processed, or if its necessary for everything to be completed in their home countries or abroad before arriving to South Korea? Thanks so much for any advice you can give me!

Hi, i've been trying to read through this all but there are sooo many pages and it's so complicated that i just ended up being completely confused.

can someone clearly explain to me how to get an FBI CRC? i'm here already in korea on an F4 but on a temp job that only lasts til june. so i'm applying for the public schools in august and they said i need one still.

what's the simplest way to do this? (i'm american)
also, when i get that does the school or recruiter take it? do i get it back so i can use it again for another job in the future?

Just to update this:

The British Embassy won't validate documents related to a CBC, they will now only provide a letter that states they have seen the document, this is not enough for it to have an apostle from the FCO.

You need it to be signed by the issuing authority.

Has anyone recently gotten the affidavit for a U.S. CBC and been successful at immigration? Is Namil Choi still a contact person if you encounter problems?

Thank you!
