If they let me carry concealed handguns and let me have an assault rifle and full body armor then I'd take the job.

One of Dave's posters informed us that the manager over there is quite nasty. Also, the pay is less than a secondary school dropout driving a truck earns per month.

-Truck drivers in America make more than teachers.

-Haven't heard of too many classroom bombs in Baghdad.

So long as it's not teaching American truck drivers English. Although teaching American truck driver's English would fun. They should do another Smokey and the Bandit but set in Iraq.

I've talked to Kent on the phone, very good guy and all.
However, he's told me that the program isn't totally off the ground yet and he is still looking for a head teacher and program coordinator (hence the high salary) and he hasn't gotten the green light yet from either the Iraqi gov't or the US military over there.
But I gave him my CV and I told him once things get up and going to send me a ticket over......

Unless I'm in Korea by then Wink

After all the help the British put into gettin Iraq under control and they don't accept any other nationalities than US.

Fucking pratts. Who made Iraq in the first place? If it wasn't for the British you wouldn't have had a country to invade.

From talking to him and from the info he gave me, the job is within the fortified Green Zone. However, that is one of the most dangerous areas right now, coming under daily mortar and RPG attacks from the Mehdi army and rogue Shiite factions....
I think taking any job there would require a high level of risk. I mean, the US department of state is finding it hard to staff the embassy there that they are making it a mandatory assignment for those selected to go or they risk losing their jobs within the State Department......does that sound good? Confused

This is all academic for most teachers anyway. You have to have a security clearance (already) or you aren't competitive for the job.

I know a Canadian that just got back from doing that job. He bought a share in an, um well-known, Itaewon restaurant/club with the money he earned there. So, you don't actually have to be American.

Rumple, you sound like a typical dumb Yank who knows nothing about history. The yanks didn't save the day, it was the Red army, who sacrificed 20 million during the war. You boys came late and the hard work had already been done. The Russians were fighting on two fronts and paid dearly for it.

Stalin's scorched earth policy played a big part in defeating the Germans when they attacked Russia. German soldiers quite simply starved and froze to death.

Hence why Stalin was really pissed off once the war ended. He was offered compensation but was given nothing. Whilst all this was going on the Yanks were busy knobbing British *beep* boxes who hung around your bases. Hence why American soldiers are still not popular to this day in the U.K. and never will be. Give me a Red any day of the week. History lesson now over so please jog on!!
