Hi
I was walking around Yudalsan yesterday for the flower festival and I saw what looked like a rat-sized squirrel running through the trees. My Korean friends asked me what it's called in English and I said 'it's just a big squirrel' but they insisted it isn't, that it's another name. They also said that it's hated by Koreans because it eats other squirrels.
I think they were mistakenly thinking of a ferret or a rat or a weasel but it's the wrong shape for all of those. I was just wondering if anybody knew the real English name of this type of squirrel.
My Korean friend then told me a disgusting childhood pet story about having had a female and male hamster pair, but the female killed and ate the male, leaving only its head. His g/f suggested that maybe if he'd fed it properly it mightn't have done that.
I knew that rats eat their own, but I didn't know the trait extended to other rodents as well. |

Those big grey squirrels are American Greys...they are all trying to kill off all of the cute Korean ones...according to any Korean who talks about it.
I think more hamsters die in the seat pockets of kids' pants after the hamsters have been stuffed into pencil cases, which are then stuffed into the ass pockets, and then the kids sit down...ouch! |

Kids told me about a squirrel type that is a 'hunter-killer squirrel"(^^). It is longer than your average squirrel. It's also light brown. It looks like a large 'weasel-squrrel'. And, like weasels, it's fierce and bloodthirsty with a high metabolism and endless hunger for flesh, squirrel flesh!^^.
Unlike sqirrels they prowl around urban neighbourhoods that border on parkland and rip into garbage, like stray dogs and cats do. They have a dolphin-like undulating gait that's like a 'wave-hop', typically weasel-ish.
It's called a cha-something, can't remember. Just know I wouldn't want to mess with one unless I had a tennis raquet. |
