So right now I'm teaching at a hogwon like many of the Americans in Korea... I was recently wondering if it would possible to get a Master's degree while here in Korea. Has anyone gotten their Master's - or thought about it? I'd like to know the better schools to go to, whom to talk to, things of that nature. I'd be most interested in computer science or possibly an International MBA of some sort. I just had the idea earlier today and haven't thought about it much - I'm just curious if anyone in the hive mind has thought about it also. Take care - Chris |

Tons of people have done it, either at one of the graduate schools of international studies at the big universities here, or through on-line programs.
It's probably not possible to complete any program while working full time at a hakwon, though.
Just get started on it. Most people drag their feet, and then regret not having knocked out the degree faster. |

It's demanding, but as you'll be paying big bucks for it, the motivation should take care of itself.
If you're working at a Hagwon, then I imagine you'll have a few hours in the morning spare. I'm at a PHS and have a few free slots during the week, which I use for reading/working on assignments or lately, revising for my exam. Mine recommends 15-hours of reading per week. I'm sure you could find a couple of hours per day for studying. |

Think about what you need it for and why you are trying to get it. If you will stay here and teach for many years and want to teach in university then it is a good idea. If you will go home in a couple of years then make sure it is from your own country.
* No one in Canada or America respects a weird-sounding degree from a university they have never heard of in a country far far away.
* Don't just waste money on a degree that will not be useful for life. |

Many foreign students get a lot of money in scholarships and grants. I'm not at all paying "big bucks." Even full tuition + fees is 1.8mil a semester! |
