Nice.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2006540000-2007180570,00.html

Quote:
FOUR million women are victims of domestic violence in Britain, says a shocking poll.

More than half are attacked on a regular basis with ten per cent abused TWICE a week.

The alarming findings come from a survey of 3,000 women who told of their horror stories anonymously.

It suggests that 13 per cent of the 30million women in the UK are assaulted by their partners.

Punches to the body were the main way men inflict pain accounting for more than 20 per cent of attacks.

Ten per cent of women were punched in the face. One in ten were kicked, nine per cent had been slapped with the back of a hand and eight per cent were struck with an object.

Around seven per cent have been throttled while others have been bitten or had their hair pulled.

Booze was blamed as a factor in one in three cases whether the abuse is a one-off event or on a regular basis.

The worst examples included: An attempted electrocution as a woman lay in the bath; an attack with CS gas; and a beating with a baseball bat.

There was also a rape by a long-term partner but the victim was too afraid to report it to the police.

And a young mum was head-butted and had her face rubbed violently on a carpet to inflict burns.

More than a third of victims needed hospital treatment.

Amazingly, 56 per cent of abused women admitted walking out on their violent partners then returned. But sadly, 62 per cent of those said the abuse started again.

John Sewell, managing director of OnePoll, which carried out the survey, said: The number of women who are constantly living with the threat of violence from a husband or lover is staggering.

Your heart goes out to every woman who lives with this fear.

Last month Home Secretary John Reid announced a 2million cash boost for domestic violence support with the number of help teams in England and Wales rising to 100 by 2008.

Every now and again, I just can't help having a little peek at The Sun. I love the title of this article, and it comes replete with a photo of some geezer belting his pregnant missus; just to help the typical Sun reader get the gist of the story I suppose. Wink Ah, The Sun.

You'd think a woman that tall would be the one doing the beating.

(sarcasm on)

No, no no Big Bird. You know very well this sort of thing NEVER happens in the enlightened West. Only those Koreans do that sort of thing.
Never knew there were 4 million Koreans in Britain.

(sarcasm off)

In all seriousness good on ye and the Sun. That kind of thing needs a light shone on it...and the brighter the better.

The food is infamously bad in Britain. If these women cooked properly, a lot of this wouldn't be happening.

What did the page 3 girl have to say about this?

Their commentary on the Iraq war was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Jane 21 from essex says " well i think Tony Blair has to find those WMDs and I support the troops" (thats from memory)..obviously the humor came from the whole political opinion/knockers thing.

Wonder what the numbers would be in the Arab world if they weren't socially suppressed? Hmm....

That's 50p for each basher, presuming that the ratio of bashers to 4m women is 1:1, of course.

Britain has a very high muslim/middle eastern population, and we all know how women are treated in these societies. Notice how the article reports no rates of abuse among different geodemographics.
