For all of the compaining people do about this country, you have to admire how the medical bills are so much cheaper here than in the states. Medicine is also super cheap. I went to the emergency room a few weeks ago because of a high fever and they hooked me up to an IV and gave me some medicine for the next week. The grand total was around 30,000 won. Back home a trip to the ER alone woud have costed me a small fortune.

You get what you pay for here. I had an ear infection last year and the doctor's visits were cheap but I had to go back every three days for a check up and to refill my antibiotic prescription. After two visits (six days) the doctor told me that I didn't need any more antibiotics. I protested because my ear was still ringing. The doctor told me that I had a permanent hearing impairment and that I needed to accept that. Needless to say, four days later my ear infection returned in full force and I went back to the doctor and we began treatment again.

In the end, it took five weeks to cure a simple ear infection and cost me approximately 100,000 won. If I went to the doctor's in the U.S., it would cost me $100 also, but it would be one quick visit and I'd be cured a week.

I have also been to the hospital about three times here and have had no problems whatsoever. I got some medication a few weeks ago that would be three times more expensive for the same dosage in the states.

I guess it's cheaper..

I've only been here a month, so I don't have insurance yet.. and well, I only had a month's worth of pills when i came, so I went to the international clinic..

Dr. visit, so they could check my blood pressure a couple times to determine I needed the pills was 60,000 won (I've been on them for 5 years)

6 months worth of pills - 220,000 won

Back home.. with insurance.. $15.00 for Dr. Visit, and $120.00 for 6 months worth of pills ($20.00 a month) I'm sure if I didnt have insurance.. It would be like $100 for Dr. Visit, and then like 4-500 for pills
