Here's one listed on E-bay for $389. Does anyone know if you can find one in Korea for approximatley the same price (if not cheaper)?

I don't get why people need 500gigs of portable storage. 5400RPM = too slow to move 500gigs. Heck at 7200 RPMs it takes too long.

They should have those types of HDs in Korea. Some of the newer notebooks can handle a 500gig HD

Guess no one reads the post. I have not seen a 2.5 500 GB Hard drive here. I am going to Yongsan to do some shopping this weekend and will let you know if I see any.

I have not seen a 2.5 500GB yet but I have seen a 400GB Buffalo Tech 2.5 inch drive. I saw it at the COEX retailing for W355,000. I'm sure you can get a better deal at Yongsan or the internet.

Just spent the weekend walking through Yongsan and Technomart. I didn't see any 500 GB 2.5 drives.

Forget conventional HDDs. Go for a Solid State Disk (SSD) and enjoy the new speed! If necessary (for pr0n collection etc) get an external HDD (preferably NAS) to function as your storage drive.

PS. I know that bigger SSDs are expensive, but you have to pay for speed. Look for a Korean manufacturer Mtron. Their products are one of the fastest out there.

PPS: I know that the OP was looking for an external HDD... but I just couldn't resist!

The cost is unrealistic...will be many years before the price makes it a feasible choice.
