I've got an interview coming up with these people. Just wondering if anyone has any inside info about this particular program. It's their hagwon, i.e., it's not a lecturer position. It's teaching kids and non-credit uni classes. They're advertising here on Dave's.

its a great job for someone wishing to break into the korean university system proper. do this for a year, get a good reference, then apply to another universities freshman program in the next year. i'd say go for it. 28 hours is HIGH though - last year my unigwon position was 20 and that was the worst in busan. however it did help me get a much better job teaching university students at a different uni this year.
bear in mind this is just a hagwon within the university. same crap with kids and hagwons still applies. you shouldn't consider this job a 'uni' position (far from it looking at the hours) - but it would be a great way to get a proper uni position in the following year... |

28 is high but 10 of those would be overtime hours...at 35K an hour...that would be another 350k a week...1.4 a month....nice when added to the salary and housing allowance... |

I can't say I'm looking at this job from the perspective of someone who's trying to find a job that's merely a step up from a hogwan because I'm not. I'm also not looking at it from the perspective of someone who's trying to use it as a bridge to a uni job as a lecturer because there are plenty of uni jobs out there not worth having. Thanks for the responses but I'm not looking for speculation. I'd like to hear from people who actually have experience teaching in this particular program or know someone who has. Cheers. |

I am working their now doing the exact same position. The work is very demanding. There is a ton of marking and preperation. The split shifts are a killer too. Don't expect to have much of a life outside of work. But, the money is great (3.5 - 4+mil/month) and your co-workers are very supportive and helpful. |
