to me this is just SO weird Shocked Shocked

and for some reason I find it terribly annoying as well - like - why are they doing it?

it's always some 20 something couple walking down the street, or maybe on the subway - and she's like, what? too damn weak to carry a 1 kg purse?

BUT

then I was walking in Itaewon one night and ohmygod - a Western guy was carrying his K gf's purse!!!!!

NO TELL ME IT's NOT SO!!!

guys - what's wrong here???

this is NOT attractive at all....sorry to be so blunt

and yes, since there's so much on here about females thought it was a little time for the other side... Wink

I would NEVER want or ask a guy to carry my bag, or purse, anything unless my arms were weighted down and then it must be packages or something and yes, then it's ok.

so what gives?

I remember when my boozer ex-russian chick used to chuck a half-litre of Vanna Talin in there, and make me carry it. I felt so ashamed.

How can she be an ex-Russian?

A while ago I wrote a dialogue for work in which a man refuses to hold his girlfriend's purse while she's in the washroom because he's afraid people will think he's gay. My coworker who had to translate it was extremely confused. She eventually uploaded it to our website though, saying that it's important for Koreans to learn how westerners think.

It's the old proverb, it goes something like this:

To catch the big fish you need to keep feeding it (hence the handbag carrying), but once you've landed it (marriage) then you no longer need to feed it (think room salon, high divorce rate).

It's all part of the fisherman's technique!! Unfortunately when married the feeding stops. Thus why the salon industry here is big, big business. That applies to men and women. Oh, and those love motels are not just for the unmarried types, but to satisfy those who are partaking in adultery.

I hope this answers your question. Also, ask a married man if he would do this. I don't think so or he would be rare like a dinosaur!! I've never seen this myself, it's always the twenty something types.

What's wrong with that?

I've been with my girlfriend for a long time and while I didn't do it with her in Canada, I don't mind doing it every once in a while here.

It can be somewhat funny and amusing and doesn't everyone need to leave their comfort zone somtimes?

Of course we do, who cares about it...

Obviously if it's unattractive to you, you wouldn't end up dating guys who would carry your purse.

Simple.

In my opinion a guy carrying a purse is giving off the same message as a guy wearing pink or a guy with a rainbow button.

If I do and that is rarely, I tend to hold it all bunched up, never by the handles (it just feels strange). As soon as she shes how I carry it tho she grabs it right back.

But come on guys how often do you wish you had a bit more room to carry things, smaller than a backpack/shoulder bag (can't think of the word) but bigger than your pockets, having your phone, wallet, camera, mp3 player, smokes in your pocket then having to carry a book for the subway/bus maybe some water, a small hand bag would be perfect Laughing

I carry a camera bag. It gets the job done, it allows me to carry a lot of things without stuffing my pockets, and it doesn't look all that sissy. The strap is a bit torn from when I met yinwenglaoshi though.

So in other words you carry your own "purse" but make fun of the guy that carries his girlfriends for a few seconds here and there?

Real guys pack light all the time...
