My contract is ending on May 1st. Thing is I would like to stay another week or so to iron out any loose ends. I heard there was a 15 day grace period before having to physically leave the country. (I don't intend to work at this time, simply stay here as a tourist would)
Does any one know if this is in fact true?
I will be returning to Korea in a few months I don't want any problems when applying for a new E2. yup, going through that whole hassle.. |

It is NOT true.
Your period of sojourn ends with the expiry date indicated on your ARC (NOT necessarily the end of your contract).
IF you overstay by even 1 day you will be detained at departure, questioned, fined and have a black mark noted in your immigration file that will impact your future E2 applications.
You have 3 options:
1) LEAVE on time.
2) Get an extension. This is a simple matter of showing your passport, ARC and exit ticket and applying for the extension. It is free. They will extend you until the date on the ticket (a maximum of 30 days after your expiry).
3) overstay, pay the fine and hope they still allow you an E2 later.
