I'm interesting in getting started on my TESOL certification and eventually get an MA TESOL....here's my question:
I've seen an ad for a program at Sookmyung Women's University for a 5-month program with classes only on Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons. This works well, with the exception that I work Thursday nights at school!
I know you can't speak for what the administrators at my school would do, but has anyone convinced their school to give them admin time or something so they could pursue teaching-related training such as this while they are working?
And as an off question, since the place is called Sookmyung WOMEN'S University, I take it even the TESOL classes are exclusively women....is this true? If so, do any other places in Seoul offer a similar setup, with either weekend-only classes or something similar?
Thanks for the help.

Men are welcome in the program, too. |

You might want to check out the Hanyang University's TESOL program. The class schedules might suit you better. I think the course starts on Jan 6th and you can do morning, evening or weekend classes.

That program sounds goood! It would probably be more focused on what Koreans desire in a teacherf? I hear Sookmyung is a good institute. Good luck to you. I have all that and cant say that it helps that much but I sure enjoyed getting it. I am still in an institute but it is fun and I will eventually work with companies, that is my goal. |

Hogwons that I have seen would NOT be helpful in this situation. You don't want to learn enough about language education to show them up, and you certainly don't want to make outside contacts who could help you if your hogwon became decidedly less helpful.
Just my experience. |
