Hi there,

I taught in Seoul for a year, had a great time, left for family reasons, want to come back, but not to teach - to work in the film industry. I am a screenwriter with no interest in Los Angeles.

My question is, is this possible? Do Korean film companies hire American's at all?

Please PM me if you can! Thanks in advance!

Quickest way to tell if someone's a schmuck in Los Angeles.

"What do you do for a living?"

"I'm a screenwriter."

Posting 'cause this might be of interest to others:

I'd get in touch with the guy who runs this site. He seems to have quite a bit of first-hand experience (as a foreigner) with the Korean film industry stuff. You can also contact KOFIC, the Korean Film Commission. They might be helpful.

If you're less interested in commercial film stuff, there's a facebook group of ex-pats looking to do 'indie' stuff together ( called "Independent Film Team Korea"). If you're interested in way left-of-centre arty stuff, Space Cell in Seoul is a great place to visit for experimenting with 16mm celluloid.
