I'm interested in putting together a collection of these stories.

If you have something to share, you can post here with your email address and i'll get in touch with you.

Care to give us ANY more details? I've seen a lot of "I'm writing a book, I'm looking for story" calls in my life and most of them are much more professional than this.

don't worry, it's for real. no offense taken.

what i'm planning now, and it's still just planning, is to put together a lot of experiences to share with koreans and possibly foreigners. aim is to let people know what's going on using true strories witout any rudeness, criticism of koreans, their culture, etc. that's my main objective.

a few reasons...

1 - i think many koreans don't know what's going on.
2 - there are checks for teachers now but not for hagwons, owners, managers...
3 - i really would like koreans to know more about the treatment some foreign teachers have received.

hope that's good enough for you Smile again, no offense taken.

K

OP, read through the first, say 3 pages of this forum for an array of problems. Also, find the "St. Anderews in Ilsan" thread by Ianinilsan. That should give you plenty of fodder.

Everyone else, I highly recommend NOT posting your email on this public forum, you are only asking for trouble.

sounds kinda like Faces of Korea: http://www.amazon.com/Faces-Korea-Foreign-Experience-Morning/dp/1565912144

Vicissitude: does it get lonely under that bridge without the occasional goat?

Are you assuming Koreans actually want to hear the other side of the stories?

Yes, I am sure this book will become required reading (in English of course!) for all college freshman....right after affirmative action sweeps the nation.

To the OP,

Your book will make War and Peace appear as a footnote. 'Dave's' only has so much bandwidth. Wink

Many stories to tell about hakwon fraud. As to checks for hakwons, some of us are unwilling to post the names of the hakwons and owners because to do so is a criminal offense in Korea. Meanwhile, there is a blacklist of EFL teachers on the web written in Korean. Sites that advertise jobs for hakwons of course make their money from hakwons so the site is in bed with the hakwons....many posts and threads are deleted.

My opinion on your plan to write a book...do you want it?

Hi Guys,

I never said book, was thinking more report or small publication. long way to go.

I'm not interested in little things like being paid late or asked to come in an hour early unpaid, but more the really difficult experiences that make you want to leave or wonder what the deal is with Koreans, or just make you anxious to finish your contract and determined you won't sign at that place again.

also everyone knows the standard contract is: 2mill or higher, ticket, bonus, apartment. that is minumum, right? but many have not received all of those. i'm interested in teachers who have had problems with these basics as well as everything else that can come up.

thanks for reading. don't mind the smart*** comments.

K
