I have no direct evidence but I believe certain people like to keep the masses in fear.
What better way to do it then to bombard us with news about the shrinking economy.
If the media told people things were getting better wouldn't it help things to improve.
I feel bad that so many people are buying into this fear and creating the very situation that they fear happening.
What a weird world we live in. If there are groups of people that enjoy manipulating the masses imagine how sick they must be.
I say turn off the fear broadcasts and try to enjoy your life. I have to stop passing on the fear myself.
When you watch the news and tell others you are passing on fear and helping to create a messed up world.
People in fear make choices out of defense rather than love. I hope I can not let this fear get me down. |

| I agree OP with your intuitions. How about the one from the AP stating Russia claims the US is going to collapse by 2010 and take control of Alaska? That was not cool at all. Robot had a surge of anger and blew a RAM chip last night upon receiving this transmission from the Associated Press, the largest and most powerful news information producer in the world. It's the big billionaires running the show from behind the scenes and they are not looking out in the good interest of the world and it's people; us. It's all about the rich getting richer while the masses succumb to oppression by being dumbed down and economically depressed. It's really a flawed fear driven system they call, "democracy and capitalism." In theory democracy and capitalism are a beautiful thing, but it's being blatantly abused and the abusers are practically getting away with murder. |

I couldn't agree more. Problem is, the global economy is a mass illusion for better or worse, so it's easily manipulated. Whenever people are told things are better, things will get better. But not before then. |

It's all part of the global conspiracy to make each sentence a paragraph.
Maybe I'm wrong. |

I'm concerned too that all the negative talk and criticism is a self-fulfilling prophecy. There are some real crack pots out there and they are destructive. On the other hand, I don't want happy talk. That would only discredit the programs when they don't work as fast or as well as is hoped.
Just straight talk, please. Keep your crack pot ideology and your revisionist history to yourself, thank you. |

Oh great, you read the Secret. Now go tell Oprah about all the good you are doing.
Just because you don't acknowlege that things are going to shite economically doesn't mean it's not true. No matter how much positive thinking you do. On the other hand, being positive does help in the long run.
Peace. |

I can't stand the Secret and I can't stand fake false positive people. You should be aware how quickly you are making associations that don't exist.
Our brains like to lump things together ie. this guy is talking about fear so he must be one of those Secret guys or he is a postive thinker.
I was just noticing that the media's current scare tactic is the economy. Once the fear of terrorism died down they found a even juicier way to scare people. It also puts people in the mindset that they are just lucky to have a job and that they should accept less pay and benefits. |

Microsoft plan to cut 7000 jobs, HomeDeport plan to cut 6000 jobs, Macy Department plan to cut 8000 jobs..etc..etc..etc
In America every day this kind of news on TV and every day news on TV is about bad economy, bad economy is even going to get worse, recovery is going to be slow...etc..etc...etc, it really makes you depressing.
Unemployment rate is going to be around 9 % in next year which means one of every 10 American will have no job.
My co-workers and I often say " How lucky we are that we have job right now ". In this bad economy if you lose your job it's almost like death sentense, finding another job is almost impossible right now.
It really scares everyone. |

A lot of universities in America started hiring freezes at the beginning of the crisis, before their endowments shrank or admission rates declined. That was sheer panic; I'm sure a lot of companies have done the same.
All that panic results in less jobs, less money in the economy, and less stability. Self-fulfilling prophecy. |

You might be right about your concerns. If you only have a bankroll of $10,000 or $ 20,000 this is no big deal. I remember when I was 20 years old I couldn't care less about the economy.
But you might want to consider how people who've worked hard their whole life and seen everything destroyed by an incompetent government.
I wish better for you and your family, but I'll guess you are an O'bama believer. |

You're about 50% right and 50% wrong. While our economy is indeed fake and easily manipulable, that doesn't mean that all the fake crap doesn't have real ramifications.
The whole economic crises has created about $600 trillion of investments that can't be paid back. The actual world economy is only $60 trillion (haha, only).
So, that debt is either going to be wiped away with a "tough shit" to those investors, or things will get worse. That's all right now. |
